Top 5 Cars For Students

Kelley Blue Book recently released it's yearly list of the best cars for students (mainly, students heading back to college, but we think it applies for all kids we parents put on the road). The top 5 cars are, the 2006 Honda Civic, 2011 Ford Fiesta, 2010 Mazda2, 2008 Pontiac Vibe, and the 2010 Honda Fit rounded off the list coming in at #5. Cars With Recurring Problems - Is Yours One Of Them?

Even though we are Georgia windshield repair specialists, we also like to keep up with current news in the auto industry. Now these are not recalls, just information for consumers and those in the auto industry. Windshield Replacement Scam To Watch Out For

In Florida, reports of "suspicious" windshield replacements are going through the roof. Why? Florida is one state that requires insurance companies to waive the cost of windshield replacement for their customers. This opens up many door-to-door "salesman" that offer to replace your windshield for free (and they, in turn, bill your insurance company). Why is this a bad idea? First off, it really smells of insurance fraud (but that is not up to us to determine), but mainly because windshield replacements can be dangerous if not done properly (read The Dangers of Windshield Replacement). Most of the time, the need for a costly and potentially dangerous replacement can be stopped with a simple windshield repair.

Windshield Crack Brings Plane Down

Windshield cracks can be dangerous - especially when that crack is on the windshield of an airplane.

In Charlotte NC, a small US Airways flight carrying 14 passengers and 3 crew members had to make an emergency landing because there was a crack in the windshield of the plane. No one was hurt and the plane has been taken out of service, but I bet that was a pretty scary flight for the passengers...and crew! Full story is here.

Incredible Windshield Story

Wow, I just read this article at gather.com and I am amazed. According to the news article, a man jumped and fell 40 stories ... and then fell THRU a winddhield.....and he survived! Now, he's in rough shape (broken legs and other injuries), but he lived. To me, that is a miracle! The guy who owned the Dodge Charger windshield feels sure that the only reason the jumper survived is because of the rosary beads he had in his car. I'm thinking the Dodge Charger owner will be looking for a windshield repair soon ;)
